Our Story
Growing up in Uganda, pilau rice was a cherished part of every celebration. I fell in love with the rich flavors and sense of community that surrounded the dish, even though mastering the perfect pilau didn't come easily to me.
Years later, after moving to the United States, a Kenyan friend taught me how to prepare authentic East African pilau. Over time, I perfected the recipe and became known among family and friends for my flavorful pilau rice.
The idea for Subi Family Table Co. Pilau Sauce was born while preparing for my son's graduation celebration. Wanting to serve him his favorite meal without spending hours in the kitchen on the big day, I made the sauce ahead of time and discovered just how convenient and delicious it was. After sharing it with a friend who immediately placed an order, I knew this was something special worth sharing.
Today, Subi Family Table Co. brings the authentic flavors, traditions, and memories of East Africa to your kitchen, making it easier to gather, celebrate, and create meaningful moments around the table.
Our commitment to authenticity extends beyond flavor. The spices used in our products are sourced directly from Uganda, where they are grown, sorted, and packed in partnership with the Kwekiri Foundation. Through this collaboration, we help support young survivors of assault and their children in the Busoga Region and other parts of Uganda.

Doreen Isubikalu
Doreen Isubikalu’s love for food and family began in Uganda, where pilau was a cherished centerpiece of family gatherings and celebrations. After moving to the United States at 23, she combined childhood memories with inspiration from a Kenyan friend to create her own authentic pilau sauce.
As a Nurse Practitioner, Doreen is passionate about wellness, nutrition, and helping people live healthy, fulfilling lives. Through Subi Family Table Co., she brings that passion to the kitchen, creating flavorful products made with authentic East African spices and wholesome ingredients.
Her mission is simple: to preserve tradition, make delicious meals easier to prepare, and bring the authentic taste of East Africa to families across the U.S.
